Key Employees Leaving Twitter

This past Friday, we received a tip that two key members of the Twitter team are leaving the nest.  Mark McBride and Cynthia Johanson made their formal announcements via Twitter of course.

The exits come on the heals of some recent shuffling of design talent and restructuring at the social network.

McBride spent his three year at Twitter as an engineering manager in charge of “maximizing developer productivity” with previous positions working on different areas of the Twitter’s API.  McBride’s new role finds him at  at Nest, the high-end thermostat start-up led by former Apple employees.

Johanson, who served as a product manager for the last year and a half,  has also worked on Twitter’s streaming API.  As of now, there were no updates or published reports on what her future plans are.

A third Twitter employee, Elizabeth Weil, also announced her departure. In the three years Weil was at Twittr, she worked in corporate development, acquisitions and the ad department.

Weil will be heading to VC firm Andreessen Horowitz where she will be the firm’s partner in charge of social.
