Doostang Acquires Jobfox

When Jobfox launched in 2004, it had a very interesting business model and one that was game changing at the time.  Jobfox aimed to be the eHarmony of jobs.  A very ambitious goal, but one that worked.  Jobfox was able to attract close to 9 million users.  As of late,  Jobfox has had its share of  stumbles and has performed several pivots. Today the end has finally come.

Doostang, a community focused on helping young professionals accelerate their careers has acquired the embattled Jobfox.  Doostang’s CEO, Jeff Berger, has had an eye on the company and the timing was right.  “As part of the acquisition, we own the domain and are using it to offer a new job alert service. However, our primary interest in Jobfox was the technology and how we could integrate some of the pieces on Doostang.”

As an early follower of both of these site, this was probably the best outcome for Jobfox.  It was sad to see what was happening to it and to read all of the negative stories in the media.  When I got started in the job’s industry,  Jobfox was one of the first companies that I called and one of the few that actually listened and spoke to me.  I’m really excited to see what Jeff and the Doostang team have in store.
