Retail: JCP – Altamonte Springs, FL

This literally will mark the second time, I’ve written about J.C. Penney.  The other time was back in April when Nick Wooster was announced as the new Creative Director. There is no doubt that JCP has been taking it in the media.  Lead by CEO Ron Johnson, JCP is experiencing a rebirth and a relaunch.  The strategy hasn’t really translated well, but if you take the long view approach, I think it’s going to work out well in the end.

I had a chance to visit a JCP store in Alatamonte Springs which is just outside of Orlando, and I have to say I was really impressed with some of the changes they’ve made.  The JCP in Altamonte Springs is one of 700 stores around the country undergoing an ambitious two year make over.

The stores feature specialty shops, and have an Apple like feel to it.  I guess that’s because Johnson lead Apple’s retail efforts.  Although some of the other departments hadn’t been updated as of yet, I was really pleased with what I saw.  You can’t go wrong with having iPads sell your denims.

Here are a few shots from my store visit.
