Daily Tickr: How to Structure Your Day to Help You Land Your Next Job

August 1, 2012

Misc

Whether you’re in a good economy or bad, landing a job is one of the hardest and most time consuming things that you can ever undertake.  New jobs just aren’t falling in people’s laps. It takes organization and careful planning.

A lot of what I will cover isn’t new, and you may already be doing some of these things. It’s just a matter of staying consistent in your approach and incorporating some new strategies wherever possible.

So how do you structure your day to ensure that you are getting the most out of your day.  The most important thing is to set measurable goals and milestones.

This will not only keep you on track, but achieving smaller goals will help you slay the larger dragons.

Also plan to attend industry events and meetings.  Your goal should be to get in front of the people that have the power to make things happen.

Be sure to send thank you cards or follow up emails after every meeting you have.

Above all else, stay away from spending more than 15% of your time answering online job boards.  Your time is better spent networking and or volunteering.
