Daily Tickr: Why You Should Ask About Layoffs in Your Next Interview

July 27, 2012

Misc

Layoffs?  But I haven’t even gotten the job yet.  I’m sure that’s the reaction most if you had when seeing the title of this article.

In addition to learning about what your future employer does and how they are positioned in the market, you should also inquire about their history when it comes to layoffs.  Layoffs like any other market, comes in cycles.

Knowing where they are in that particular cycle will give you a clear indication as to if they are getting ready to take a dip or if they are riding a hot streak.

Definitely something you would need to know before making a commitment to work for an employer that could turnaround and let you go six months from the date you started.
