Daily Tickr: How to Use Facebook to Get a Job

July 19, 2012

Misc

Recent studies have come out and suggested that more and more recruiters are using Facebook to source talent and fill openings that they have.  Given the fact that Facebook is set to launch it’s own job board in just a matter of weeks, the number of recruiters using Facebook is only going to rise.

If you are going to go down the path of using Facebook as a tool to help you find a job, there are few things that have to be understood.  First and foremost, I think we can all agree that it’s not LinkedIn.  The structure is different and the quality of contacts, dare I say, are much better.

You can still use your LinkedIn know-how to put you in a position to get a job via Facebook.  Like companies that are interesting to you.  Follow the commentary and become active in their posts.  Don’t let it become a one-sided conversation.  Offer insights, and become a subject matter on a particular subject.  Most importantly, remain professional, but don’t lose sight of who you are.  Companies want to hire real and genuine people.
