If you are on facebook and a job seeker, chances are that you have heard of Branchout.  Branchout has been referred to as the Linkedin for Facebook.  BranchOut profiles only show work history, education, and positive recommendations.  BranchOut’s advanced search options allow users to find the job opportunities based on their location, industry, experience, and job title.  BranchOut has been so popular that Monster launch it’s version, BeKnown to get in on the social action.  According to a report by BranchOut’s investors, a network of 300 facebook friends translates into 30,000 professional connections.

Through the BranchOut/CareerBuilder partnership, job seekers can view jobs they are interested in and which contacts they have in their network that could potentially help to make an introduction or referral.  By using one’s Facebook friend network, BranchOut provides unprecedented inside connections. Just search for a company and you’ll see all of your friends and friends-of-friends who work there.
